In 1977, a nonprofit service organization was founded by Pi Kappa Phi to support severely disabled children. The acronym P.U.S.H. then stood for "Play Units for the Severely Handicapped." Over the next several years, fraternity members from chapters all over the U.S. raised money to support the placement of "play units" in facilities in several states. Just 10 years later, it became obvious that PUSH had an opportunity to serve the disabled in many ways beyond the "play unit." PUSH changed its name to "People Understanding the Severely Handicapped," and changed its direction. In 1992 PUSH changed its name one more time to "PUSH America," focusing on the national scope of its projects and programs. As proof of using brotherhood to benefit others, Pi Kapps raise over $225,000 annually on behalf of PUSH America.

The Gamma Kappa chapter hosts the Annual PUSH Pagaent which was started in the late 1980's. Push Pagaent consists of one contestant from each sorority and they dress in formal wear, answer questions from the host, and perform talents. Last year Gamma Kappa donate $2500 to the PUSH America fund.
